I will try holding the Ctrl key suggestion and see what it does. I am definately clicking on > > office button. But my issue was that I was using VNC to access the computer. We had tried to uninstall & reinstall, restart and even repair. Exit the applications, hold Ctrl, and start Word or Excel. If so can you also open it with the mouse if you hold down the ctrl key when starting Word?
