My Garmin Touch Screen Wont Respond
Unfortunately, the problem will not correct itself, The touchscreen will need to be replaced, no way around it. After update software failed, asked me pay $79 and mailed it back for replacement. I understand these screens are "capacitive" & operate by varying the "static charge" at the point of touch. A touchscreen is basically just an adjustable resistor (by touch).

I tried entering my pin but the touch screen still did not respond visually or audibly. Garmin Nuvi 680 Touch Screen Not Working Nuvi 265 WT and Nuvi 2597 LMT. However not using it for perhaps several months the problem would occurs & I would have to re-calibrate again. I got a new screen (Screen and LCD display as a unit) plus a tool for the 4 screws for about $35 on line.

A stylus will give you better accuracy during the recalibaration process than a finger.
But your Garmin does not have to be done. The unit is about 3 years old but I will be (quite literally!) lost without it. I tried the calibration screen just to make sure it was working and calibrated and the touchscreen has responded like new since.
