My process was slightly different, but you led me in the right direction. I am definitely connected to the net and it is behaving as if I am not. Also, how much Memory do you have? I am still having a problem with the clock syncing though.

My hardware clock works fine. Are you using a built-in one that came with the laptop, a card that you bought, or a cable? That's a problem right there. Still, no go.
