I was running Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit) with Remote Desktop Services and the Installer Service would not start. Previously tried to start services, would not start. You can also start the service by going to Start, Run and type in net start MSIServer into the Run box. Then scroll down to Windows Installer and double-click on it.
